Matthew Egan is an octopedal amphibious man-child who at the age of 10 made his way from the Great Barrier Reef of Australia to the coastal waters of California without coming up for air. Once in California he was kidnapped by a rogue band of Mormons and made to renounce his extra limbs and shell-crushing beak. He ate nothing but soft foods until he was 23, when he met a girl whose teeth were strong enough to chew through bone. One day the girl opened her mouth and a swarm of bees flew out and chased Egan across the country to Brooklyn, where he now lives with a supply of serum to prevent sudden anaphylactic shock. Although he never regained use of his extra limbs, Egan often makes a lot of noise on a drum to compensate for his loss.
